Open source development¶
Open source development is a collaborative and transparent software creation method that makes source code publicly available for anyone to view, use, modify, and distribute. This approach, the open source way, fosters a community-driven forum where individuals and organizations collaborate to solve problems and develop new technology.
The AutoSD community¶
This development model is a core part of Red Hat’s strategy. For instance, Red Hat founded the CentOS Automotive SIG to curate AutoSD as the open, automotive-specific upstream for Red Hat In-Vehicle OS.
In this community, open source members, partners, customers, and public enthusiasts collaborate to prototype cloud-native SDV concepts. These community-driven innovations might someday become features in the enterprise-grade Red Hat In-Vehicle OS.
From community to enterprise¶
Red Hat uses this open source software development model to conceive its enterprise open source products and solutions. This communities-to-enterprise path generates certified solutions or platforms, which include guides to assist customers with their own international standards compliance.
